Vendor Spotlight: Town & Country Gardens

We are excited to begin a new blog series spotlighting our preferred vendors and Town & Country Gardens will be our first! Sabrina, one of the designers, has been in the floral part of the industry for seven years, always playing a part in the weddings and events side. For the past three years, she’s met with couples to help them plan the floral and décor for their wedding day!

Town & Country Gardens has been in the business for 55 years! What started as a small, family-owned garden shop, has grown into one of the top US ranked florists! The shop has been owned by three generations of the Englemann family; each generation transforming it little by little into what it is today.

Sabrina’s start in the business was actually to prove a point to a friend who told her there were no jobs available in the area. She was intent on proving that friend wrong! She called TONS of places and TCG happened to be one of them. Who knew that single phone call would change her life forever! Sabrina ended up meeting with the wedding coordinator and found a love for an industry she didn’t even know existed.

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “The earth laughs in flowers.” Any one who enjoys flowers and nature in general, would probably agree with this quote. Sabrina says working with flowers in itself is a very gratifying job.

“You get to see pretty naturally made things and watch them make other people happy.”

Sabrina loves working in an industry where she gets to brighten people’s moods every day. People will call them to make an arrangement and they get to surprise their loves ones with beautiful flowers. Who wouldn’t love bringing a smile to someone’s face? Sabrina says it gets even better working with weddings because she gets a chance to be a part of the most important day of their lives.

“I get to make their visions become a reality and really set the mood and tone for the wedding itself.”

What makes TCG different from other florists? Sabrina says they take the time to learn every client’s needs to help them with their wedding and achieve their vision. They get the opportunity to work on many weddings, but every single one is different from the other. Sabrina treats each wedding as if it were her own. TCG also has the perk of being able to get their flowers directly from the growers themselves—helping tremendously with their flower quality!

Sabrina finds inspiration in two places: fashion and home décor! “If it’s on the shelf at Target, you know it will be in style for weddings!” This is also true with color schemes. Suddenly you’ll see the new “it” colors on Pinterest, in stores, clothing and even your junk email! Sabrina’s eyes are always open for that next creative spark!

Sabrina’s favorite design style in flowers is letting the floral stems have a mind of their own. “There is something so beautiful about the way flowers grow naturally and I think that sometimes it gets lost when your making an arrangement.” She likes to showcase just that. Her personal floral style is very botanical and messy—in a good way!

There are so many flowers Sabrina would recommend for weddings in the spring. Some of those are tulips, peonies, hyacinth, ranunculus and garden roses. Springs flowers are her favorite—they all smell amazing, which is why she chose to get married in the spring!
